With “Geketend in de schaduw van het leven”, Meslamtaea dig deep and deliver an epic masterpiece of highly evocative, progressive yet atmospheric black metal.
Conceptually, the album deals with the decline of the world as we know it. We’re getting more and more disconnected from our Mother Earth and are heading full speed to our own demise. Those who care are getting furious and frustrated with the rest of the world for not giving a damn.
Musically, this maelstrom of emotions is captured in furious riffing, intertwined with jazzy and progressive parts, always with one eye on the song itself.
Join in on this trip of frustration, sadness, acceptance, rage and despondency.
Vocal guest appearances come from Fraukje van Burg (Doodwens) and Kevin Kentie (Verbum Verus, Ibex Angel Order, Abysmal Darkening) while Otto Kokke plays saxophone on the album.

Ved Buens Ende (NOR)
To many of you Ved Buens Ende doesn’t require much introduction. Formed in 1994 in Oslo the band was originally formed around Carl-Michael (Aura Noir, Virus, Dodheimsgard,… ) and Vicotnik (Dodheimsgard, Strid, Dold Vorde Ens Navn….) who were joined by Skoll (Ulver, Arcturus). Their full length album ‘Written in Waters’ was released in 1995 as a progressive black metal masterpiece, way ahead of its time. After a hiatus of more than 20 years, the band played a few well-selected shows around Europe. However, this will be their first ever live gig in the Benelux. Don’t miss out!
Alkerdeel spits out droney black doom metal with blown out practice space production, grinding guitars, blasting distorted drums, filthy super sick vocals, with stretches of loping minimal crunch, sort of mathy, all very heavy, doomy and even psychedelic. Essential for fans of Darkthrone, Burning Witch, Winter, Blut aus Nord or Beherit… as well as other practitioners of Grimm buzz and noise.
Lubbert Das (NL)
Lubbert Das was formed in Nijmegen in the summer of 2012 and is part of the Haeresis Noviomagi collective (a.o. Turia, Iskandr, Fluisteraars,…). Over the years Lubbert Das already built a reputation of furious and intense candlelit live performances. Shrouded in darkness, the band utilizes a unique combination of lo-fi and minimalist spectres of sound as well as a compositional style that is highly expansive in scope. Lubbert Das continues in surprising anyone searching for gripping and honest black art.
On November 15, Babylon Doom Cult Records will release the new WITCH TRAIL full-length ‘The Sun has left the Hill” as an amazing gatefold LP. Consouling Sounds will take care of the CD version.
‘The Sun has left the Hill” is an ambitious concept album about the world of sleep and dreams. As ever with WITCH TRAIL, there’s not one genre to label their music. Fans who are already acquainted with the unique mix of noise rock, post metal and black metal already know WITCH TRAIL have the craftsmanship and riffs to compel the listener time after time.
Aaaaaaaarggghhh… it seems planning isn’t the greatest quality of Babylon Doom Cult Records… or could it be the pressing plants?
Actually it doesn’t really matter, fact is that the Witte Wieven / Reiziger – Vlucht LP hasn’t arrived at the BDC office yet. The records are on their way to Europe, that’s for sure. Hopefully they’ll arrive soon, we’ll start packing and shipping the minute they arrive.
If you have ordered a copy and are not happy with the delay, please drop us a line. Shout angrily, ask your money back, tell us how to handle your order or just kindly say “Hey, it’s ok, I’ll wait”.
What do you get when Kanye West, Swans, Horseback and De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig (a Dutch hiphop band) in a blender?
Of course the autotune vocals sound like a gimmick at first. But then you listen a second time. And a third time. And slowly the gimmick makes way for just great, catchy songs with weird (Dutch) lyrics.
